Every day, the young child would polish the mud dumpling they had
made. One day, as they were admiring the result, they accidentally dropped it,
and the dumpling cracked beautifully.
The nursery teacher approached them, having watched the child polish
the dumpling every day. The child let out a sad voice, "I dropped it. It
was a very important dumpling." The teacher responded, "You were so
happy making it shiny." The child continued, "But now it's broken.
It's just a mud dumpling, but it's so sad." The teacher asked, "Why
do you think that is?" The child answered, "Because I put my heart
into it." The teacher explained, "Just like how you would be upset if
someone played with your favorite stuffed animal, keeping something dear to you
safe is important." The child agreed, "Yes, but I couldn't protect
the dumpling." The teacher comforted them, "Losing something precious
is always sad. It's because you poured your heart into it. You become attached
to anything you put your heart into." The child realized the lesson the
dumpling had taught them.
"Although the dumpling is broken, it taught you something
important," the teacher said. "Always cherish things that have a
heart in them." The child exclaimed, "That's amazing, it's
true!" The teacher added, "You can always make another dumpling, but
it's the act of putting your heart into it that matters." The child
smiled, understanding the importance of the lesson learned.
